The importance of Stopping and Seeing
Stopping and seeing literally means that you stop, for a moment, everything you are doing, look around you, and reflect.
Stopping and Seeing is a core skill of any successful leader, visionary or creative person. Without being able to “stop and see” where you are today, where you came from and where your current activities might take you to, you cannot bring about meaningful change, make effective decisions nor determine if you should change course or direction during dynamic times.
People who have brought about great changes in the world were able to see parts of current reality and a future world that was different. They also have a deep understanding of who they are, their strengths and how to match these to the possible new future they envision. They achieved this through being able to “stop and see”.
Because of this gift, they are able to perceive the world and possibilities before others can see it. This ability gives them a great advantage. Leaders, such as Steve Jobs, who have influenced the world in such a way, are known to continue honing this skill even when it appears to others that they have mastered it.
The program is based on the academic research performed by MaRi Eagar as part of her masters degree in the Philosophy of Personal, Interpersonal and Professional Leadership. The program has evolved from practical workshops offered since 1999 and is a distillation of over twenty years of research in the subject of personal transformation, creativity and change.

After we heard the Call to Adventure, the most fundamental skill we need to master is to “Stop and See”.
This means to literally take stock of who you are, and investigate and train in the tools and techniques you have available to be successful in the journey.
Without the ability to see different things and also see what is not-yet-known, you will not be able to move into a new direction, spot trends, be more creative or have a compelling vision. Before embarking on the journey it is important to not only know the tools of stopping and seeing, but understand the basic foundational structure of how to change your reality. You also need to employ a model for interpreting change in particular to have feedback on whether you are progressing or not.
The Stopping and Seeing training consists of five modules where you will learn a holistic framework that you can apply for the rest of your life. It is built upon the collected wisdom of proven transformation systems that have been academically verified. These skills are also being studied by the scientific community to understand the human brain and how to improve longevity, improved cognitive functioning and develop new neuronets.
The program covers in a practical and experiential manner the following concepts:
- The principle of “stopping and seeing” and why it is so important for a successful life
- Neuroplasticity, neurosciences and the evidence that we have the potential to improve our overall intelligence and build new neuropaths
- Technologies of Self – the skilful methods for purposeful training and cultivating of the heart and mind (including thought patterns, feelings and behaviors) that are effective in transforming current limiting dominant states of mind and liberating self-potential.
- The human potential transformer model
- The triangle of reality as a simple model of understanding the relationship between your perception, your senses and reality and how simple it is to change any of these aspects
- Three modes of attention and how it affects where your energy is being applied
- Six dominant reality tunnels and how yous influences your decision making
- An effective five step structure that will achieve a personal transformation
At the end of the program you will know how to
Improve your cognitive functioning and brain health
Apply techniques to increase your ability to concentrate
Know how to shift your attention at will
Understand how to control your thoughts • improve your analytical and logical ability
Know how to cultivate your imagination and creativity
Cultivate the ability to see and experience more than others
Learn how to speed up and integrate more information than others
Learn how to build a new neuronet
Once you have successfully completed the program you will be able to continue to cultivate the skill of “stopping and seeing” as a lifelong habit.
“When we were driving back from the workshop, it was such as different experience as we started talking about “what we were able to see in more detail, about what we missed before..My team is now asking me when they can learn more about how to practice this skill.” (CEO, Business School)
The frameworks and principles will allow you to make better and more informed choices about how to select from the variety of systems and practices that are available in personal growth and leadership development and apply these to your own practice in a meaningful way. If you are a leader, coach or personal growth expert, you will be able to use the content and framework of the Stopping and Seeing program as a useful method and tool in your own practice and change management programs.
Experiential individual and group facilitated training and coaching:
Stopping and Seeing workshops are offered over five sessions of four hours each. During each session participants will receive a practical assignment that has to be completed before the next session. This practical work on self is one of the differentiators of this program, as it moves discussions from theory into practice.
On-line program:
The on-line version of the Stopping and Seeing program is offered as five modules. Each module consists of a portfolio which contains explanation of concepts, as well as a practical assignment. Participants complete the assignment and send it to the miPATH facilitator or coach, who reviews and discusses it with each participant or a group of participants via a skype or web conference format. Once a component is completed, the new module will be provided to the participant.
Pre-requisite:
The Pathfinder Discovery program needs to be completed before the Stopping and Seeing training as it provides the context and background.
